El Papa Francisco y el gran imán de la universidad islámica de El Cairo al Azhar, Ahmed Al Tayeb, se encontrarán previsiblemente el próximo lunes en el Vaticano, confirmó este viernes el portavoz de la Santa Sede, Federico Lombardi.
Lombardi explicó este viernes que se está preparando este encuentro que previsiblemente será el lunes, pero del que aún se tienen pocos más detalles.
Al Azhar es el centro de estudios y jurisprudencia islámico de referencia para los suníes y hasta su sede egipcia llegan muchos musulmanes de todo el mundo para aprender el Corán y las enseñanzas del profeta Mahoma.
El pasado febrero, representantes de la Santa Sede, entre ellos el español Miguel Ángel Ayuso Guixot, secretario del Pontificio Consejo para el diálogo entre religiones, visitaron esta institución egipcia, la más prestigiosa del islam suní, para invitar al gran imán a una reunión con Francisco en el Vaticano.
