ASÍ LO AFIRMA UN OBISPO SURCOREANO
El Papa Francisco desea visitar Corea del Norte para expresar su cercanía a todo el pueblo coreano, dividido desde la Guerra de Corea (1950-1953). Así lo ha asegurado Mons. Lazzaro You Heung-sik en declaraciones a un periodista de la agencia Yonhap, hablando sobre la conversación que mantuvo con el pontífice hace una semana, el 17 de abril.
(Asia news) Monseñor You, obispo de Daejeon, es muy cercano al Papa, a quien acompañó y alojó durante el viaje del pontífice a Corea del Sur en 2014.
Francesco expresó su deseo de visitar el Norte en varias oportunidades. En 2018, con motivo de una visita al Vaticano, el presidente surcoreano Moon Jae-in, transmitió al Papa una invitación verbal del presidente del Norte Kim Jong-un. En ese momento el diálogo entre Pyongyang y Washington era intenso y muchos contaban con un desarrollo positivo. Esa vez el Papa Francisco dijo que estaba dispuesto a ir a Corea del Norte si recibía una invitación oficial.
Desde entonces, sin embargo, no hubo ninguna novedad y los diálogos entre Pyongyang y Estados Unidos, e incluso con Seúl, se han estancado.
La diócesis de Daejeon ha donado US $ 460.000 al pontífice para el programa para compartir vacunas de la Limosnería Apostólica.
