UNA MUJER LA PIDIÓ, SE OPUSO EN EL MOMENTO DE MORIR Y SE LA APLICARON
El martes, la Corte Suprema holandesa ha sentenciado que los médicos pueden llevar a cabo legalmente la eutanasia en personas con demencia avanzada que antes habían expresado su aprobación por escrito, aunque ya no puedan confirmar dicho deseo, e incluso se opongan, debido a su enfermedad.
(InfoCatólica) «Un médico puede llevar a cabo un solicitud escrita (anterior) de eutanasia de personas con demencia avanzada», dijo la Corte Suprema en un resumen de su decisión.
El problema es que el caso abordado por el tribunal holandés trata acerca de una mujer que, tras haber solicitado a su médico que le aplicara una inyección letal porque padecía Alzheimer, se opuso físicamente a que se le pusiera dicha inyección y el médico tuvo que pedir a sus familiares que la sujetaran para poder administrarle las drogas que finalmente la mataron. De hecho, la mujer había dejado por escrito que ella quería decidir cuándo recibir la eutanasia.
Por tanto, según la sentencia, si alguien pide la eutanasia por escrito y se opone abiertamente en el momento en que se la van a aplicar, el médico encargado de poner fin a su vida puede decidir que dicho paciente ya no está en condiciones mentales suficientes para hacer prevalecer su voluntad de no morir a la precedente a favor.
