El Papa Francisco llegó hoy a Filipinas, para comenzar la segunda etapa de su segundo viaje a Asia. Su visita al país se extenderá hasta el 19 de enero.
El avión que trasladó al Santo Padre desde Colombo (Sri Lanka) hasta Manila (Filipinas), llegó alrededor de las 5:45 p.m. (hora local).
La multitud que lo recibió, emocionada, cantó «Bienvenido Papa Francisco».
Durante su permanencia en el país, Francisco se reunirá con los sobrevivientes del tifón Yolanda, que golpeó Filipinas en 2013 y sostendrá un multitudinario encuentro con las familias.
El Papa Francisco también se encontrará con las autoridades locales, y presidirá la celebración de la Misa en la Catedral de la Inmaculada Concepción de Manila y cerca del aeropuerto internacional de Tacloban, entre otras actividades.
