Les aconseja «pasión por los derechos humanos y la justicia»
Emocionados por haber sido elegidos para la despedida de este primer viaje de un Papa a su país, los jóvenes tomaban conciencia de su responsabilidad como Evangelios vivos cuando les decía que «vosotros sois una buena noticia», y les invitaba a gritarla, «pero no con vuestras voces sino con vuestra vida, con vuestros corazones».
Desde el altar de la catedral de Rangún, Francisco les exhortaba a llevar la Buena Noticia a «vuestros hermanas y hermanas que sufren, y que necesitan vuestras oraciones, vuestra solidaridad, pero también vuestra pasión por los derechos humanos y la justicia».
Mil quinientos muchachos y muchachas le acompañaban en el interior del templo y varios miles fuera, mientras que muchísimos otros fieles de Myanmar y los países cercanos seguían la ceremonia en «streaming».
En un tono de mayor intimidad, Francisco ha sugerido a los jóvenes: «Hablad con el Señor en la oración. Aprended a escuchar su voz, hablándole con calma desde los más profundo de vuestro corazón».
Les ha aconsejado también «hablad también con los santos, nuestros amigos del cielo que nos sirven de ejemplo. Como san Andrés, cuya fiesta celebramos hoy».
En tono muy familiar, les ha comentado que Andrés, el hermano de Simón Pedro, «fue un sencillo pescador que acabo siendo un gran mártir. Pero antes cometió sus errores, tuvo que ser paciente y aprender gradualmente a ser un verdadero discípulo de Cristo. Así que no tengáis miedo a aprender de vuestros propios errores».
La misa ha sido celebrada en inglés, birmano y latín, mientras que las oraciones de los fieles fueron leídas en los idiomas de las principales etnias minoritarias, de las que forman parte la mayoría de los católicos -kachín, karen, kayan, chin y tamil- así como también en chino para los jóvenes que seguían la ceremonia desde el gigantesco país vecino.
Al término de su homilía en italiano, el Papa ha pronunciado en birmano sus últimas palabras de despedida, dirigidas a los jóvenes y a todos los habitantes del país: «¡Dios bendiga Myanmar!».
