Tras el rezo de la oración mariana, el Papa agradeció el trabajo de «las asociaciones que en estos días han animado el Jubileo de las personas marginadas», y se sumó a la Jornada del Agradecimiento por los frutos de la tierra y del trabajo humano que se celebra en Italia. «Me asocio a los obispos para desearles que la madre tierra sea siempre cultivada en modo sostenible», dijo. La «Iglesia está cerca con simpatía y reconocimiento al mundo agrícola y exhorta a no olvidar cuántos, en varias partes del mundo, están privados de los bienes esenciales como el alimento y el agua».
